Steve Madden

Steve Madden is the founder and Managing Director of Business Capital Exchange, Inc.  With more than 30 years at the Founder and Managing Director level, Steve's experience providing middle-market mergers and acquisitions advice is unique and extensive. He has managed and executed over 200 M&A transactions.

The large majority of Steve's transactional practice involves the sale of privately-owned companies and divestitures for large publicly listed multinational corporations. As a longtime entrepreneur himself, Steve's clients, who are operators of closely held businesses, value his thorough understanding of the skills required to successfully lead a business through multiple business cycles. Steve has managed and closed transactions for an extensive list of well-known clients including private equity firms and publicly-listed companies such as Clean Harbors, General Electric, The Stanley Works, PerkinElmer, Standex International, Xtra-Vision plc and AET. He has cross-border experience having sold companies across the middle-market spectrum in North America, Europe and Asia. Steve's experience spans more than 50 different industries and includes highly profitable, high growth businesses to companies operating in Chapter 11.

Steve received his M.B.A. from the Franklin W. Olson Graduate School of Business at Babson College where he was the graduate school student body President, and earned his B.A. from Boston College. He is a Series 79 and 63 Registered Investment Banking Agent with BML Securities, LLC, a FINRA-registered broker-dealer partially owned by Business Capital Exchange, Inc.

Russ Landon

Russ Landon has over 25 years of experience in industry-focused investment banking, having completed over 150 transactions aggregating over $8 billion in transaction value. In addition to his responsibilities with Business Capital Exchange, Russ owns and runs North River Capital Advisors, an investment banking boutique that provides a wide breadth of services for companies in the Energy and Resource Technology sector, leveraging years of relationships and experience. 

Previously, Russ was a Managing Director at KeyBanc Capital Markets, the investment banking division of KeyCorp, a commercial bank with $90 billion in assets, where he was responsible for a variety of transactions including public and private debt and equity, syndicated loans, M&A and other financial advisory services. Before Key, Russ spent over 15 years at Adams Harkness (subsequently Canaccord Adams and then Canaccord Genuity), a leading investment banking and brokerage firm with a presence throughout the North America and Europe. At Adams, Russ ran the investment banking group and also founded and headed the firm’s Sustainability / Clean Technology practice and the firm's sustainable consumer practice, Healthy Living.

Russ received his M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and B.A. from Yale University. Russ has been a Board member of the Northeast Clean Energy Council, the leading Clean Energy policy and trade organization in the Northeast, since its formation in 2006. He is a Series 24 Registered Securities Principal and Registered Securities Representative (Series 7, 63, 79) with BML Securities LLC, of which he is a part owner.

Jay Remington is a mergers and acquisitions specialist whose 18-year banking career includes extensive middle market transaction experience with training in the Health Care, Retail, and Technology industry groups at bulge-bracket firms. Jay has worked on more than 35 successful advisory and capital markets transactions valued in aggregate at more than $22 billion.

Prior to Business Capital Exchange, Jay was a Principal at Wells Fargo Middle Market (formerly Barrington Associates) in Boston, a Vice President in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group of Houlihan Lokey, and an M&A specialist at emerging growth investment bank Adams Harkness. Earlier in his career, Jay worked in Merrill Lynch's Global Healthcare Group and in Lehman Brothers' Global Technology Group.

Jay earned an M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in Physics from Brown University, where he was a four year member of the Varsity Wrestling Team. Jay is a General Securities Registered Representative licensed with FINRA (Series 7, 79, 63). He serves on the Board of Directors of the Porter Foundation, and formerly chaired the Annual Fund for the Kent School in Kent, CT.  Securities products and services offered through BML Securities LLC, member FINRA/SiPC.

Brian Stornelli

Brian Stornelli has provided transaction execution services for M&A, private placements, public market financings and advisory engagements in the energy efficiency, technology, healthcare, consumer products and financial services industries.

Most recently he served as a finance and strategy consultant for early-stage start-up companies preparing to raise additional funding. Brian was previously a Senior Investment Banking Analyst at Stifel Nicolaus in the Technology Group providing advisory and transaction execution services for IT services, semiconductor and software companies. Prior to Stifel, he was an Analyst in the Emerging Growth and Financial Institutions Groups at A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc.

Brian earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Babson College with concentrations in finance and economics.

Justin Nowicki

Justin Nowicki’s investment banking career has focused on mergers and acquisitions advisory and capital formation primarily with middle-market corporations.

Outside of Justin’s work in M&A advisory, he founded BankerBox, a transaction management software for M&A professionals. BankerBox was acquired by SS&C Intralinks, Inc. in 2019. Prior to founding BankerBox Justin worked for Headwaters MB (now Capstone Headwaters) and The Forbes M&A Group.

Justin Holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Denver.

Emerson Martin

Emerson Martin has over 35 years of experience in investment banking, private equity and venture capital having completed over 200 transactions. He has broad industry experience in alternative energy, consumer/retail, healthcare, manufacturing and general industrial and services businesses.

During his career, he was a Senior Managing Director at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Spencer Trask. He started his investment banking career at Smith Barney. While Emerson has worked with more recognizable companies such as Sony, Dow, TRW, Mead, Kubota, Stryker, Continental Airlines, Mitsui, Scott Paper, Alexion, Cambrex, Delta, A & P, Bare Escentuals, Barr Labs, Crown Castle, Comcast, Rubbermaid, Destec Energy, Marshall Fields, Ponderosa, McDermott, Brockway, Cherry Electric, Moog and Carolina Freight, he has also worked with hundreds of smaller high quality companies that look to be big name successful businesses in the future. Emerson brings a “Bulge Bracket” professionalism to smaller and medium sized companies, where his years of experience can truly be utilized. His smaller clients appreciate his capabilities in tackling their needs and issues.

Jessica Dumphy has spent her career focusing on middle market companies, in both client advisory and in-house transactional roles. She brings together effective combination of investment banking and actual company experience. Her career has spanned almost 20 years.

In her prior experience, Jessica was with Haemonetics Corporation (NYSE:HAE) in roles encompassing business development, corporate strategy, corporate communications, finance, and operations. Earlier in her career, Jessica gained investment banking experience at Tucker Anthony Incorporated, focusing on middle market advisory and capital markets transactions in the healthcare, financial, and consumer products fields. Additionally, Jessica was a sell-side equity analyst focusing on the healthcare sector with H.C. Wainwright & Co.

Jessica earned a B.A. in economics and political science from the University of Michigan.

Suzanne Oakley, CPA has more than 25 years of global experience in business planning, financial modeling, financial management, transaction support, and strategy development for companies ranging in size from start-up to Fortune 500.

A seasoned financial executive, Suzanne has extensive expertise in preparing and evaluating investor presentations, developing and managing annual budgets and quarterly outlooks, preparing and presenting financial reports and analysis to Executive management and Boards of Directors, providing financial oversight for corporate operating divisions, and implementing financial planning and reporting systems.

Suzanne has held several senior financial management positions in publicly traded companies, such as Cablevision and ScanSoft, as well as venture-backed startups. She is a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts and a Deloitte alum. Suzanne gained Wall Street experience as a sell-side analyst with SG Cowen Securities covering Telecommunications Services. She is also an advisor to the Hub Angels Investment Group, and is a mentor for Northeast CleanTech Open, MIT Clean Energy Prize, and MIT's Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship.

Suzanne earned her M.B.A. in Finance and New Business Development from MIT's Sloan School of Management and her B.S. in Business Administration, cum laude from Georgetown University School of Business.
